Ornament Exchange!

10 Dec

A few of my online friends (JKnotties)  and I had an ornament exchange this year.   Last night I recieved my package; my ornaments are soooo pretty!   Kristi was so sneaky and took some pictures  from my blog to have the ornaments made.

Here is the first one, so precious!  (There isn’t really a yellow dot, I think it’s the reflection of a Christmas light.

And this one looks like a postcard, how adorable!.

And the back of it,

Yesterday we had a few snow flurries, so John and I felt it was the perfect night to put up the Christmas tree.  Neither one of us felt like cooking, so we ordered Chinese food.  I think we’re going to make it a tradition, Chinese takeout on the night we  decorate the tree… What do y’all think?  Does anyone else have any traditions like that?

My great uncle Rex has taken a liking to John.  We see him about twice a year at a local town’s dinner theatre when the whole family gets together.  The most recent meeting was the first weekend in November.  Uncle Rex (I have no idea why we don’t call him GREAT Uncle Rex since that’s what he is?  I also have an Uncle Rex and we just call him Rex…. we messed up somewhere along the line, lol.)  When we all got together Uncle Rex told John he has something for him.  After dinner was over, they walked out to the car and Unlce Rex gave him this box and told him not to open it until Christmas!  John has to wait 2 months to open it!!  But luckily, the wait is almost over.. only 2 more weeks.  Now that our tree’s up, we have somewhere to put it…. I have a feeling John may be opening it at 12:01 A.M. on Christmas, hee hee.

If you want to see some of my other favorite ornaments, check out this post from last year.

Kitelyn's Birthday!

6 Dec

Okay, so I think this should be my last post about this party, lol.  Kristina sent me a few pictures, so I’ll let you see my precious cake getting demolished. 🙂

Enjoy the pics!  Oh yea, you can click on each picture to make it bigger….Kite was getting so sleepy towards the end… you can see her little eyes getting sleepy.

Elmo Birthday Party!

5 Dec

Remember my previous tease of Elmo?  Well, it was the birthday cake for my best friend’s little girl, Kitelyn.  Remember last year when I blogged about her?  Her father, Ty, is in the National Guard and he just got deployed to Iraq.  Thankfully he got back in October, safe and sound.

I got to make both of Kite’s birthday cakes! One big one for everyone to eat, and a small one for Kite to just have fun with.  Stupid me forgot my camera so I had to take cake pictures with Kristina’s camera… I’m waiting for her to send me the pictures… as soon as she does, I’ll update this with better pictures.  But for now, I’ll leave you with a picture from my phone.  Enjoy!!

Elmo Cake

Sneak Peak!

3 Dec

I’m so sorry for the lack of blog updates… I was going to try to post every day in December, but I am miserably failing so far.  It has been an extreeeemely busy month for me…. Quiting a job, starting a new job that’s completely different, hosting my first family holiday, and now something else, that’s pretty big.  But it should all be done with tonight and I’ll have some time to relax and blog…  Here’s a teaser on what has been keeping me soooo busy the last two nights and today…

"My" First Thanksgiving!

1 Dec

I survived.  I know with the lack of postings, you may have thought I didn’t survive Thanksgiving, but alas, I did.  If you’re new to my blog, or have forgotten, I hosted my family’s Thanksgiving, at my tiny house!  We had 11 people and 2 dogs. 🙂

My mom told me I should get a big big turkey, so I bought the largest one I could find…. 23.5 lbs!  Boy was it big!  I tried thawing it in my sink.

I forgot how tiny my sink is, so I had to move it to the bathtub so I could cover it with water.  I borrowed a larger roaster from a coworker to cook it it, but it was just a smidge too small (imagine that!).  So instead of using the lid, I just wrapped the top with foil.

Thanksgiving was really crazy once everyone showed up, but I managed to get a few food pictures.

My mom brought the mashed potatoes…. Actually she forgot the potatoes at her house and my dad had to go back and get them before we could eat….. luckily, we don’t live too far apart.  When she made the potatoes, she just pick a stick of butter on top to melt in the potatoes… here’s what it looked like when we opened the dish… too funny!!  Paula Deen would be so proud! 🙂

All in all, I think Thanksgiving was a success, my biggest disaster was slightly burnt rolls.  Everyone commented on how nice it was and how yummy the food was, so I think that counts as a success!

We also took some family pictures after we ate.  I think the most recent family picture we have (not including wedding pictures) I was about 5 or 6 in.

Yes…. that is a mohawk on one of my brothers……

We also took a “girls only” picture.  This one is my favorite.  My grandma (RoRo) is cracking up about something, and Zerbie looks like she’s laughing too.

I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was as happy and great as mine was!!
